Drainage and Trenching

Download Product Sheet
Mexteds offers a choice of trenching methods to deliver primary and secondary drainage solutions.

We also work in the growing area of artificial playing surfaces, where site preparation is vital to achieving good results.

Subsoil trenching primary drainage

For primary drainage Mexteds uses rock saws or chain trenchers, which are controlled by hands-free laser equipment to achieve perfect gradients for optimum drainage.

Mexteds rock saw trencher is used extensively for installing collector or subsoil drains in playing fields.  A side elevator delivers spoil into an accompanying vehicle, ensuring fast, clean and efficient operation

Our Malletti rock saw trenches at 50mm, 90mm and 180mm widths, with a maximum depth of 750mm.

Sand slitting secondary drainage

We offer various options for secondary drainage, helping to channel excess surface water into the primary drainage network. Our suggested solution will take account of ground conditions and the client's budget.

The SWM 200 is  ideal for the trenching of sand slits for sand-carpet or sand-based playing fields, the side elevator delivering spoil into an accompanying truck.  In this instance, the SWM 200 is set to trench at 50mm width, with a depth of 300 - 450mm.

Gravel banding secondary drainage

Gravel banding is a good option for clients looking for an economical solution in soft ground conditions  - the work often being undertaken in autumn and winter months.  This is drain today, play tomorrow technology with no down time - a real bonus for high use fields.

Based on an extrusion system, the trenches are backfilled with fine gravel or sand in a single operation.  A sand topping layer can be applied if required.

We have modified our gravel banding equipment to give the additional advantage of rotary decompacting, simultaneously with gravel banding.

Our Sheltons gravel bander cuts 25mm slits at 400mm centres, and a depth of 300mm.

Trenchless cable and pipe installation

Mexteds installs cables, service ducts, irrigation, water mains, and conduit through playing fields.

Our vibrating plow equipment offers a clean, fast and economical solution.  This is a trenchless system requiring no backfilling and is virtually invisible, a narrow cut in the turf being the only evidence that an alkathene pipe or subduct has been laid under ground.

The Ditchwitch combo vibrating plow is also useful for running services along driveways in rural areas.
