SISGrass stitched hybrid turf

Allianz Stadium, Sydney, NSW - Mexteds' machine and technicians stitched the stadium ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
Mexteds is the distributor of SISGrass stitched turf in New Zealand, under a Distribution Agreement with SISGrass B.V.

>>  SISGrass has been installed at a large number of high profile Stadiums and sports venues all over the world, including Lord's Cricket Ground in London and Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow for the World Football Cup.

>> Mexteds first brought the SISGrass stitched turf system to New Zealand in 2019 for demonstration purposes, where we installed it in trial areas at 11 high-profile sporting venues, including the Basin Reserve, Eden Park and Lincoln's Bert Sutcliffe Oval for New Zealand Cricket.

>>  In 2022 we bought our own SISGrass Universal machine. With the first jobs already completed at David Farrington Park, Miramar, and the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) in Trentham, this new stitching service is generating strong interest from around the country.

>>  Ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023, Mexteds SIS Grass Universal machine was shipped to Australia and three of our technicians joined an international crew and three further SIS Grass Universal machines to stitch Allianz, Coopers and Suncorp stadiums in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

SISGrass installation
  • Stitch Grass can be installed during the construction of new sports fields, during or after grow-in.
  • It can also be stitched into existing sports fields, or in certain high-use areas.
  • Stitch spacing and depth can be tailored to the client's requirements - from 90-180mm
  • Once installed, the stitched surface is five percent polyethylene monofilament MN Ultra yarn and 95 percent natural turf.

SISGrass maintenance
Annual renovation of SISGrass hybrid pitches is required to maintain the playability and performance of the surface through the removal of vegetation and organic matter. Maintenance of a SISGrass stitched surface is similar to the maintenance of a natural sand-based field and involves:
  • Scarifying, grooving and sweeping
  • Sand dressing
  • Approximately every three years a more aggressive renovation and removal of the natural grass cover and re-sowing. The SISGrass stitching is unaffected by this renovation.
  • Dimple seeding and additional sand dressing to keep the upper profile and fibres clean and preventing organic build up
